Saint John, NB — [November 20, 2025] – Saint John Airport (YSJ) is enhancing the travel experience for passengers with the expansion of its baggage system. A new, larger baggage belt is being installed to accommodate the increased volume of luggage from larger aircraft now serving the airport.
During the construction phase, travellers will continue to have their bags delivered efficiently using the baggage belt located in the customs hall. This ensures arrivals remain smooth while the main system is upgraded.
Completion is expected in early December, just in time for the busy holiday travel season. The new belt will reduce wait times, improve capacity, and support YSJ’s long-term growth. “This expansion is about investing in our passengers and preparing for the future,” said Lori Carle, Marketing and PR Manager. “With airlines moving to larger aircraft, this upgraded system ensures travellers receive the reliable, efficient baggage service they expect.”
Passengers will notice the temporary barricades in the arrivals area during construction, but airport operations will continue as usual.
