From Saint John to Montreal – and soon even more

Forget everything you know about airport terminals. By the end of 2025, YSJ travellers connecting to Montreal through Pascan will experience something completely different: a state-of-the-art facility that feels more like an upscale lounge than a traditional airport.

“The airport itself is like a big VIP lounge,” says Simon-Pierre Diamond, Vice-President of Corporate Affairs at Montréal Metropolitan Airport (the MET), formerly known as Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport. “There are no chairs in lines like we usually see – it’s small, circular seating areas, big comfortable chairs, working tables. It will be very comfortable to be there.”

Since December 2024, YSJ passengers have been flying Pascan Aviation’s midday service direct to the MET, located just 15 kilometres from downtown Montreal. That proximity makes all the difference – especially compared to navigating Montreal’s west-end traffic to reach Trudeau Airport.

But the real transformation comes when Porter Airlines’ new terminal opens on the same airport grounds, expected by the end of the year. Thanks to an agreement between Pascan and Porter Airlines, passengers can connect to flights on each airline seamlessly with one booking and one ticket. Suddenly, that convenient hop to Montreal becomes your gateway to destinations across Canada.

“This partnership with Pascan and Porter is very key,” Simon-Pierre explains. “From Saint John, you’ll be able to connect to Porter flights to Toronto, Vancouver and more. And the opposite is true as well – Porter’s large clientele will be able to fly into Saint John.”

For travellers, this means genuine choice. A weekend in Montreal is now just as easy as a business trip to Toronto or a vacation in Vancouver. The MET’s location delivers you to downtown Montreal faster and easier, while the Porter connection opens up the rest of the country.

The new terminal promises a streamlined experience too, with close parking and efficient processing – Simon-Pierre says passengers will only need to arrive 30 minutes before boarding.

Whether it’s exploring Montreal’s east end, conducting business in Canada’s major cities, or planning that long-awaited cross-country adventure – your next great trip starts right here at YSJ.
