It’s been quite a month for Aerial–YSJ’s facility K9. Trained to support both passengers and staff, Aerial brings calm, comfort and connection everywhere she goes. And this month, she put all those skills to work.
She started by greeting a former premier during a visit to the airport – calmly making her rounds and offering the kind of quiet reassurance that makes even public figures pause for a smile. From there, she headed straight into inspiring mode, joining students at career day to show young people that airports are full of possibilities, teamwork, and unexpected jobs (including her own).
Aerial also spent time with our friends at Port Saint John – part of her regular outreach to partners across the region – where she charmed the office staff with her trademark mix of confidence and cuddles. And, because community spirit fuels her just as much as it fuels us, she rounded out the month soaking up the holiday magic at the Saint John Santa Claus parade.
But even with all that excitement, one moment stood above the rest.
As Blue Rodeo passed through YSJ after their Saint John performance, Aerial had the chance to greet Canadian music legend Jim Cuddy. True to form, she trotted forward, tail wagging, and he instantly lit up. After giving her a few affectionate pats, he looked up and said something we’ll be quoting for a long time: “Every airport needs a dog in departures.”
We couldn’t agree more. And judging by the way her tail kept wagging, neither could Aerial.
