Saint John, NB – July 15, 2024: Saint John Airport is pleased to announce the successful implementation of a new cell phone waiting lot, designed to enhance the convenience and efficiency of passenger pick-ups. This initiative aims to reduce congestion in the arrival sections, offering a safe and cost-effective solution for those waiting to collect arriving passengers.
One of the key benefits is reduced traffic congestion by providing a designated area for waiting. The cell phone parking lot significantly decreases the number of vehicles circling the airport or idling on the side of Loch Lomond Road, which previously contributed to potential safety hazards.
With fewer cars idling and circling the airport, there is a reduction in emissions, contributing to our ongoing efforts to promote environmentally sustainable practices.
“We are thrilled with the positive response from our community regarding the new cell phone waiting lot,” said Lori Carle, Manager of Marketing and Public & Corporate Relations at Saint John Airport. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to improving the overall airport experience while also addressing environmental and safety concerns. The feedback from users has been very positive, highlighting the lot’s convenience and effectiveness.”
The cell phone waiting lot is conveniently located just a short distance from the terminal. Drivers can park for free while waiting in their vehicle for a call or text from their arriving passengers. Once the passengers have collected their luggage and are ready to be picked up, the driver can then proceed to the designated pick-up area, ensuring a quick and seamless transfer.
Saint John Airport continues to seek innovative ways to enhance the travel experience for our passengers and visitors.
