Positive Growth in Saint John’s Air Service with PASCAN Aviation

Oct 17, 2024–
Saint John, NB — The Saint John Airport is pleased to report continued growth in air service through PASCAN Aviation, which has played an integral role in connecting our region with convenient and reliable travel options.
The partnership with PASCAN, established to enhance regional connectivity, has steadily increased passenger numbers and demonstrated the community’s strong demand for local air service.
“This growth is a testament to the vibrant, supportive nature of the community we serve,” says Lori Carle, Manager of Marketing and Public Relations at the Saint John Airport. “Business travellers are recognizing the value of time saved through this service, enhancing both their productivity and their work-life balance. We’re proud to work with PASCAN in providing essential air services for the people of Saint John and beyond.”
Last May, Quebec-based PASCAN Aviation announced twice-a-day return flights between Saint John and Halifax every weekday – flights that began Sept. 9.
Many travellers are using PASCAN’s service to connect with the Air Canada network out of Halifax, shortening their travel time to destinations such as St. John’s, Gander, and Boston. This streamlined access has made travel more efficient and appealing for both business and leisure passengers.
While Saint John celebrates this success, it’s important to acknowledge the recent business decision by PASCAN to pause its weekday return service between Bathurst Regional Airport and Saint John, given low demand, with the hope of restoring it in the spring, should demand improve.
“These routes are very important to PASCAN. While we are encouraged by the response and growth on the Saint John-Halifax route, we have seen very little interest from the flying public in the Bathurst route so far. We would love to continue the service to Bathurst; we will continue to work with the airport authority and region and hope to return to the north in the spring should the demand be there,” says PASCAN President and CEO Julian Roberts.
The Saint John Airport team is committed to maintaining and expanding air services in Southern New Brunswick while working collaboratively with other airports across the region to ensure a strong, interconnected air network for all New Brunswickers. Together, with continued community engagement, our regional airports can thrive and continue to provide critical services for business, tourism, and personal travel.
