Passing of Saint John Airport President and CEO Alexander (Sandy) Ross
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – It is with profound sadness that the Saint John Airport (YSJ) acknowledges the passing of Alexander (Sandy) Ross, President and CEO of Saint John Airport.
“Sandy leaves behind a legacy of leadership, innovation, and deep commitment to our community,” says Susan Harley, Chair of the Board of Directors for the airport.
Ross passed away Monday after a brief illness.
“Since joining the airport in January 2022, Sandy played a pivotal role in revitalizing air service in our region, including the launch of new regional routes that reconnected Saint John with key destinations and in advancing a vision of growth, sustainability and long-term impact,” Harley said in a statement on behalf of the board and the airport community.
“Sandy was a true champion for YSJ, passionately invested in our airport's success and committed to serving both Saint John and the broader southern New Brunswick region. He was a strong advocate for the important role YSJ plays in the economic development of our region, always working tirelessly to ensure our airport served as a vital gateway for business and tourism,” she said.
“Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sandy was a respected colleague and friend whose warmth and integrity touched everyone who had the privilege of working with him.”
Greg Hierlihy, Vice President of Finance and Operations, will serve as interim CEO while the Board conducts a search for a permanent successor.
