If you’ve travelled through Saint John Airport recently, you may not have met Tom Gribbons – but his work is helping shape the experience you have.
Tom is the new Chair of the Saint John Airport board, stepping into the role at a time when YSJ is building momentum – growing passenger volumes, strengthening air service and investing in the future.
For Tom, the airport isn’t just infrastructure, it’s part of how a region connects and grows.
“An airport like YSJ is about more than flights,” he says. “It’s about making it easier for people to get where they need to go – for work, for family, for opportunity.”
A long-time business and community leader in Saint John, Tom brings a practical, community-focused perspective to the role. His focus is simple: support the team, stay grounded in what travellers need, and help position YSJ for steady, sustainable growth.
That starts with air service, continuing to build more flights, better connections and greater convenience for travellers.
“We know people have choices when they travel,” he says. “Our job is to make starting your trip here the easiest and most convenient option.”
Supporting that work is a longer-term focus on land development – creating new opportunities at the airport that help strengthen its financial foundation and support future growth.
Tom is also clear about what drives progress at an airport like YSJ: partnerships.
From airlines to local businesses and community stakeholders, building air service and improving connectivity is a shared effort. It’s one reason YSJ continues to focus on collaboration across the region.
Looking ahead, Tom sees real opportunity.
“YSJ plays an important role in this region,” he says. “We’ve got a strong foundation, and there’s a lot of potential to build on.”
For travellers, that’s good news – because the work happening behind the scenes today is all about making tomorrow’s journey even better.
